Phases, steps, techniques and deliverables compare and contrast

Phases are broad groupings of activities undertaken during the development of an information system. In general we describe four phases: planning, evaluating, designing and implementing. The required activities or tasks are outlined within each phase as a series of steps which guide the work to be performed. Steps are accomplished by applying appropriate techniques, or methods of performing tasks. Deliverables are the understanding and/or specific materials produced which represent a step ‘s accomplishment.
